Epic Editor, developed by Arbortext (now part of PTC), is a professional structured authoring environment for SGML and XML. It helps teams create and maintain complex, standards-based technical documentation with schema/DTD-driven, real-time validation and both WYSIWYG and tag/source views. The editor supports content reuse, conditional text, cross-references, indexing, tables, and graphics to keep large documentation sets consistent and accurate. With stylesheet-driven formatting (including FOSI and XSL) and integration with Arbortext publishing components, it enables multichannel output—such as print/PDF and HTML—from a single source. Widely used in aerospace, defense, manufacturing, and other regulated industries, Epic Editor streamlines collaborative authoring and controlled publishing and served as the foundation for today’s Arbortext Editor product.
Epic Editor is developed by Arbortext. The most popular versions of this product among our users are: 4.3, 4.4 and 5.1. The names of program executable files are epic.exe, Icon1AB12E8F.exe. Works with mcf, sgm, acl and xevgenxml file types.
